Hawai‘i State Historical Records Advisory Board (HI SHRAB)
Mission
The Hawai`i State Historical Records Advisory Board (HI SHRAB)
- reviews applications for grants to the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) and provides advice and assistance to prospective applicants;
- supports communication and cooperative efforts among the state’s historical records community; and
- provides leadership and guidance to help ensure the preservation of and access to Hawaii’s historical records.
Established
Pursuant to the procedures of National Historical Publications Records Commission (NHPRC), the State of Hawaii established a State Historic Records Advisory Board (SHRAB), with the state archivist serving as the coordinator of the advisory board. Since its activation in Hawaii in 1976, the Governor of our state has appointed members to the Hawaii's SHRAB. Hawaii's board has seven (7) members, appointed for three year terms, including the state coordinator.
The present board consists of the following members:
